The pupils use what they have learned to design a regional sustainable plan for food production.
What to do:
For this the pupils will need to draw on their own knowledge and experience and what they have learned. They can also use maps of the region (aerial photo floor mats are ideal or Google Earth) for a perspective on how the land is currently used. Engage the pupils with the help of your mystery guest if possible, to discuss if it is possible to use the land more efficiently for food production. Eg can crops like legumes, grains or vegetables be grown on land that is currently grazed? Is there potential to grow more food in urban areas? What about hillsides? Is there any productive sea space in the region?
